When we let life lead,
The embryo turns into a baby,
The caterpillar morphs into a butterfly,
Everything magically falls into place.
When it comes to our own lives, however, we want control. We want to steer the way. We won’t loosen our grip. Maybe that’s why most of us are unfulfilled?
I’m currently reading The Surrender Experiment by Michael A. Singer. The book is about Singer’s life and how he let go and let life take the lead. What transpired was more than he could have ever dreamed.
From this moment on, I am going to have a surrender experiment in my own life. Yesterday we went for a walk and I told Nic that I was going to surrender to my life. I explained to him that just as no one has to force the caterpillar to become a butterfly, I also no longer want to force my life to become what I think I want. I will just follow the flow of my life and see where it leads. I then go on to mention that we should get some caterpillars and watch them morph into butterflies to instill this faith in ourselves.
From that point on, we no kidding must have seen a total of 50 or more butterflies as we continued our walk — definitely a sign from the Universe itself.
“It’s funny how some distance makes everything seem small. And the fears that once controlled me, can’t get to me at all! It’s time to see what I can do, to test the limits and break through. No right, no wrong, no rules for me. I’m free!” Queen Elsa, Frozen
